The Best of 2005:
Photographs That Made A Difference In My Life
For this exhibit I have curated a selection of my favorite images of 2005. This show includes both assignment and personal work that, for various reasons, I find particularly moving. Most of the images are from editorial assignments and are rich with subtext and back-stories. They were selected for reasons that transcend my contributions as a photographer. For each I consider myself fortunate to be a willing witness to the lives and experiences of people who, in large and small ways, are in the process of transforming our world.
The personal work I have selected for this show has more of an aesthetic appeal for me. In choosing these works I have had the chance to see 2005 as a year of extremes. Where my editorial work has continued on with the themes relevant to a society in need of repair, in my personal work I have recognized an uncharted move towards the meditative and spiritually therapeutic. Still lifes and landscapes, once relegated to an occasional photographic foray, seem to have taken a place closer to the center of my creative work.
