Get a load of
me:
red/yellow/black/white/brown
and every shade of gray.
I am the flavor you wish to savor,
free/untamed/unslaved/unashamed.
No history or recipe can mess with me:
chocolate mango wrapped in banana leaves,
Tabasco sopping collard greens,
side of sesame and slice of kimchee.

crossed legged on a stoop of tomorrow,
waiting for my dragon to ride,
but I’ll take your Cadillac.
Drop a dime or a dollar,
make a wish,
say a prayer,
for I am yin yang/adinkra,
the writing on the prison walls
incarcerating your dreams.
I am free;
